Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.trinadhthatakula.framegallery ## Features ### Photo gallery: Less looking. More finding. Your camera roll, screenshots and saved videos, together in a library that feels like yours. - Browse photos and videos grouped by day, or explore the folders already on your device. - Filter photos, videos or favorites. Pinch the grid to make room for more thumbnails or give each image a little more space. - Long-press to select, then share, copy, move, favorite or trash a group of files. Create collections without moving your originals. Hidden items stay out of Frame’s main library. Hiding is not encryption or a password-protected vault. ### Image viewer: Stay with the details. Swipe through photos, zoom into the small things, and tap once to let the controls fade away. - Pinch, double-tap and pan around an image. Swipe between photos in your current folder, collection or filtered view. - See file size, dimensions and available camera information in the Details sheet. - Photos with saved coordinates can show an address through Android’s Geocoder. Open the spot in a maps app, or the containing folder in Files. Available metadata varies by image. Address lookup can use the device’s geocoding provider; see the privacy policy. ### Video & audio player: Your next scene is waiting. A capable local player, comfortable in portrait and ready to stretch out in landscape. - Seek, change playback speed, choose supported audio tracks and subtitles, and adjust brightness or volume with gestures. - Match the video’s orientation, rotate manually, use picture in picture, or lock the controls against accidental touches. - Reopen an unfinished video or audio file to resume or restart. Resume is the default after a five-second countdown. - Open local video and audio from a file manager using Open with. Audio uses a focused player and stays in the foreground. HD and 4K playback depend on your device’s decoder, codec profile, frame rate and file. Background audio playback is not currently supported. ### Photo editor: A little adjustment. A different mood. Bring out a warmer evening, a brighter face or a quieter color palette. - Crop, rotate and flip. Adjust brightness, contrast, saturation and warmth. - Compare your changes with the original before saving. - Save a new JPEG copy while keeping the original file intact. Edits produce a still JPEG up to 4096 pixels / 8 megapixels, without location metadata. Transparency becomes black and animated images become stills. ### Photo widgets & live wallpaper: Good memories deserve a little daylight. Bring a favorite photo—or a whole folder—to the place you look at every day. - Choose from 35 Material shapes for photo widgets, with fit or fill, shuffle and independent settings for each widget. - Swipe vertically through the photo stack, or tap to open the displayed image. - Turn local photos into a rotating live wallpaper. Rotation pauses while the wallpaper is hidden or the screen is off. Widget rotation starts at 15-minute intervals and can be delayed by Android. Shape rendering and swipe behavior can vary by launcher. ### Appearance: Three ways to feel at home. Keep it familiar, give it room, or see the files at a glance. - Atelier is a balanced gallery grouped by day. Chronicle gives your photos a spacious journal layout. Index adds a compact view, filename search and navigation rail. - Choose light, dark or system appearance, with AMOLED black backgrounds in dark mode. - Use colors from your wallpaper with dynamic color on Android 12 and later. All three layouts share the same media library and tools. ## Supported formats Android may not index specialty formats. Open them directly from a file manager using Open with. ### Images From everyday camera photos to vector artwork and newer image formats. - Everyday images: JPEG / JPG, PNG, BMP, ICO, WebP. Local decoding. Exact variants depend on the file and available decoders. - Animated images: GIF, animated WebP, APNG. GIF and animated WebP can animate. Bounded APNG animations are supported; larger ones may show a still preview. - Vector images: SVG, SVGZ. Rendered locally as a bounded image. Scripts and browser interactions are not supported. - Additional images: TIFF / TIF, HEIF / HEIC, AVIF, JPEG XL / JXL, JPEG 2000 / JP2 / J2K, QOI. TIFF displays its first page. HEIF, AVIF and JPEG XL currently display still images. - Photoshop previews: PSD. Merged previews of supported 8/16-bit RGB or grayscale files. No layer editing, PSB, CMYK/Lab, 32-bit or 16-bit ZIP-prediction support. - Camera RAW: DNG, CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, ORF, RW2, RAF and other supported LibRaw formats. Uses an embedded preview when available, or a sampled image. Compatibility varies by camera model and file; support for every model is not guaranteed. ### Video Local video containers played through Android’s available decoders. - Containers: MP4, fragmented MP4, MKV, WebM, MPEG-TS, MPEG-PS, FLV. The container alone does not determine playability. Its video and audio codecs, profile, resolution and frame rate must be supported by the device. Seeking varies by file. - HD & 4K: Device-dependent. Compatible 4K files can play on capable devices. Frame cannot add hardware codec support or guarantee smooth 4K playback on every phone. ### Audio Open an audio file directly from a file manager. - Audio formats: MP3, M4A, AAC / ADTS, WAV, FLAC, Ogg / Vorbis, Opus, AMR. Playback depends on the encoding and device decoder. Seekable files support saved-position resume. Audio pauses when the player leaves the foreground. ### Subtitles Choose a supported embedded track or your own subtitle file. - External subtitles: SRT, WebVTT / VTT. UTF-8 text, up to 2 MiB, chosen through Android’s file picker. - Embedded subtitles: Supported tracks inside the media file. Availability depends on the file and player support. Complex authored styling and vertical text may not be reproduced. ## Questions and answers ### How can I install Frame? Frame is currently in internal testing on Google Play. Only invited testers can access it, using the Google account that received the invitation. The Play link may be unavailable to other accounts. There is no public sign-up or public release yet. ### Does Frame work offline or need an account? The local gallery, image viewer, video player, editor, photo widgets and live wallpaper work without creating a Frame account. Your library stays on your device. Optional address lookups and links to other apps or websites may use external services. ### Does Frame upload my photos? Frame does not upload your photo library to the developer or a Frame cloud service. Sharing sends the files you choose to another app. When you open photo Details, saved coordinates may be passed to Android’s geocoding provider for an address; opening Maps passes coordinates to the selected maps app. ### Which Android versions are supported? Frame supports Android 9 Pie (API 28) and later. Media permissions, available decoders and widget behavior vary with Android and your device. Wallpaper-based dynamic colors require Android 12 or later. ### Can Frame play 4K video? It can play compatible 4K videos when your device supports the file’s codecs, profile, frame rate and resolution. A 4K label alone does not guarantee smooth playback. Unsupported or damaged files show an error. ### Can I open SVG, RAW or other specialty images? Yes. Use Open with from a file manager for specialty formats that Android does not show in the gallery. Frame supports SVG/SVGZ and a broad range of raster and camera RAW formats, with limits listed on the Supported formats page. ### Does editing replace my original photo? No. The editor saves a separate JPEG copy. The original stays intact. The copy is a still image up to 4096 pixels / 8 megapixels, without location metadata; transparent areas become black. ### How does Trash work? Each item is kept for 30 days before automatic cleanup, subject to Android’s scheduling and storage behavior. You can restore it before deletion or permanently delete it after confirmation. Android 9 and 10 use private recovery copies; clearing Frame’s storage or uninstalling it removes those copies. ### Are hidden photos encrypted? No. Hiding removes an item from Frame’s main library. It does not encrypt, password-protect or prevent other apps from accessing the underlying file. ### Can widgets change photos automatically? Yes. Each widget can use selected photos or a device folder, rotate from 15-minute intervals, and use shuffle. Android may delay updates. You can also swipe through the stack. Shape clipping and swipe behavior depend on your launcher. ### Does Frame play music in the background? Not currently. Local audio can be opened from a file manager and has playback controls and saved-position resume, but it pauses when the player leaves the foreground. ### Are accounts, ads or a wallpaper store available? They are not part of the current local app. This version has no Frame accounts, advertising, analytics SDK or in-app purchases. Future connected features will be documented, including any privacy changes, before they become available. ## Privacy policy Last updated: 2026-10-21 This policy covers Frame: Gallery & Video player for Android (package com.trinadhthatakula.framegallery) and the Frame website. Frame is developed by Trinadh Thatakula. It describes the current local app, including the internal-testing version. ### The short version Your photos and videos are processed on your device. Frame does not upload your media library to the developer or a Frame cloud service. The current app does not have Frame accounts, advertising, in-app purchases, analytics SDKs or automatic crash reporting. Some actions involve services outside Frame: address lookup uses Android’s Geocoder, sharing opens an app you choose, and links can open Maps, Files, Google Play, your email app or your browser. Their handling of information is described below. ### Photos, videos and permissions Frame asks Android for access to photos and videos so it can display your library, open media, show available metadata, edit copies and perform the file actions you choose. You can allow selected media on supported Android versions. Older versions use the corresponding storage permissions; Android 9 also requires write access for file changes. On Android 13 and later, Frame requests READ_MEDIA_IMAGES for photos and READ_MEDIA_VIDEO for videos. Broad access supports its ongoing gallery and media-library functions, for these reasons: Frame is a full-device gallery. READ_MEDIA_IMAGES lets it index photos, show folders and thumbnails, and keep the library current. System pickers grant only selected files and cannot support continuous browsing of the user's full photo library. Frame is a gallery and local video player. READ_MEDIA_VIDEO lets it index videos, show folders and thumbnails, and keep the library current. System pickers grant only selected files, so they cannot provide an up-to-date view of all device videos. Access is limited to the media you allow. Selected-media access can still be used on supported Android versions, but the gallery then shows only accessible items. Opening a single file from another app can use that file’s temporary grant. These alternatives do not provide a continuously updated view of your complete shared media library. Media access is used for local gallery functions, not to upload photo or video contents for advertising or analytics. You can change or revoke access in Android Settings. Opening one file from another app can use a temporary permission for that file, without granting access to your entire library. Files offered by a third-party document provider may be supplied from that provider’s cloud service under its own policies. Frame reads embedded photo location only when it is available and Android permits access. ACCESS_MEDIA_LOCATION is for coordinates already saved in a photo; Frame does not request live GPS location, microphone or camera access. ### Information stored on your device Frame stores local preferences, favorite and hidden-file references, collections, widget and wallpaper selections, and playback positions. It also creates bounded thumbnail caches, temporary decoding files and temporary copies of subtitle files you select. This information supports browsing, display and playback; it is not sent to a Frame server. Hiding an item changes its visibility inside Frame. It does not encrypt the file or prevent other apps with permission from reading it. Your device’s screen lock and storage protections remain important. Frame disables its Android app-data cloud backup and excludes its app data from Android’s configured device-transfer rules. Other apps and services that back up your shared photo library operate independently of Frame. ### Photo addresses and Maps When you open the Details tab for a photo with accessible saved coordinates, Frame can automatically ask Android’s Geocoder for an address. This request includes the photo’s latitude and longitude and the requested locale. Your device’s geocoding provider may send the request over its network service and may process network and device information under its own policy. No Frame-operated location server is used. Address lookup can fail or be unavailable, in which case coordinates remain visible. Lookup results are cached only in memory: successful results for up to one hour and unsuccessful results for up to one minute, with a bounded cache. Frame does not save these resolved addresses in its library database. Tapping the location passes the photo’s coordinates to the maps app you choose. The selected app may make its own network requests. These coordinates describe where the photo was taken, which may differ from your current location. ### Sharing and other apps When you choose Share, Frame grants the receiving app access to the selected file. A shared original can contain embedded information such as location or camera metadata. Review the file and recipient before sharing. The receiving app’s privacy policy governs what it does with that file. Opening the file’s folder hands its location to Android’s file browser. Opening Google Play sends you to Google’s service. The current app has no Frame sign-in; the Google account used to install an internal test is managed by Google Play, not by Frame. The photo editor creates a separate JPEG without location metadata and preserves the original. Exported edits and copies remain in shared device storage until you or another authorized app remove them. ### Retention, deletion and recovery Cached thumbnails can be removed through Settings → Clear preview cache. Android may also remove cache files. Subtitle copies are temporary; the player removes its selected temporary file when it is released, and later imports clean up older leftovers. Trash retains each item for 30 days before automatic cleanup. Android scheduling can delay background cleanup. On Android 11 and later, supported trash actions use Android’s system media trash and consent flow. Android 9 and 10 use recovery copies in Frame’s private app storage. You can restore an item before deletion or permanently delete it after confirmation. Clearing Frame’s app storage or uninstalling it removes local settings, history, caches and private recovery copies. Restore anything you need from private Trash first. Uninstalling Frame does not delete ordinary originals and saved edits in shared media storage, and it does not itself empty Android’s system trash. There is no Frame account or server-side media library to delete in the current version. You control local information through the app’s file actions and Android’s permission and storage settings. ### Planned advertising and analytics identifiers Frame declares com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID and com.android.vending.BILLING in its Android manifest in preparation for future advertising and Google Play purchases. These declarations do not themselves collect information or enable purchases. The Google Play Billing library is included for future purchase support, but Frame does not start a billing connection or offer purchases. The current local app does not read the Advertising ID, create an analytics app-instance ID, or include advertising or analytics SDKs. Advertising and analytics remain planned features. In a future release, where available and permitted by your choices and applicable requirements, Frame may use Android’s resettable Advertising ID for advertising, marketing attribution and campaign measurement. The AD_ID permission does not grant access to your photos or videos. A separate app-instance identifier may be used for analytics, such as understanding feature usage and app performance. It identifies an installation of Frame rather than permanent device hardware and will be kept separate from advertising identifiers. It will not be used as a replacement advertising identifier or to bypass an Advertising ID reset or deletion. This plan does not use IMEI, device serial numbers, MAC addresses or Android ID for advertising tracking. Advertising ID resets, deletion and applicable advertising choices will be respected. Android’s settings and available controls vary by device and version. Before these features collect or share information, this policy and the Google Play Data safety disclosures will be updated with the actual data collected, providers or recipients, retention periods and user controls. Any required disclosures and consent will be provided before collection begins. The current website does not collect these identifiers. - Google: managing advertising ID and ad choices: https://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/answer/6048248?hl=en ### Visiting this website The Frame website is a static site. It does not include advertising, embedded third-party players, analytics scripts, tracking pixels or third-party fonts. It does not upload files or ask you to create an account. If you change the website’s light or dark theme, that choice is saved in your browser’s local storage under frame-site-theme. It is not sent to the developer. Clearing this site’s browser storage removes the choice. No cookies are set by the website’s application code. The hosting provider must receive ordinary connection information to deliver and protect the site, such as your IP address, requested URL, browser information and request time. This site is hosted on Vercel; its privacy notice explains its processing and retention. If the domain is served through a Cloudflare proxy, Cloudflare can also process connection information under its own policy. These infrastructure logs are distinct from application analytics. Links to Google Play, other apps, source materials and licensing pages take you to external services with their own privacy practices. Fonts, screenshots and other page assets are served by this site rather than requested from their original creators when you browse. - Vercel privacy notice: https://vercel.com/legal/privacy-notice - Cloudflare privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/ - Google privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy ### When you contact the developer If you email trinadh.thatakula@gmail.com, the developer receives your email address and whatever information you choose to include, such as feedback, attachments or a diagnostic description. This is used to respond to you, investigate the issue and keep necessary support records. Avoid sending private photos or sensitive information unless you intend to share them. Support correspondence is retained for as long as reasonably needed to handle the request, maintain relevant support records or meet legal obligations. You can use the same email address to request access, correction or deletion of information you have provided, subject to applicable requirements. Local app data is managed on your device and is not accessible to the developer through the app. ### Children’s information Frame has no account-registration or age-collection flow and does not intentionally collect children’s personal information through the app. If you believe a child has sent personal information to the developer through support, contact the address below so the request can be reviewed and the information removed where appropriate. ### Changes to this policy This policy will be updated when the app or website’s data practices change, with the revised date shown on this page. Future connected features, such as accounts or purchases, are not described as active features of this version. Their data practices will be disclosed before they become available, with any required notices or consent. ### Contact Developer: Trinadh Thatakula.
